A functional sculpture with a backrest on which 2 to 4 people can sit comfortably. It is inspired by the shape of a life-size humpback whale’s fluke as it emerges and prepares to plunge back into the depths.
Available materials Bronze, cast iron, architectural concrete, wood (Oak or Walnut), Carrara marble, composite materials.
Concrete benches architectural fiber-reinforced composites offer the public genuine functional works of art at a competitive price. They are solid and perfectly suited to public spaces. We’ve been mastering this material since 1992, when we installed our first concrete bench in Villefranche-sur-Mer.
Dimensions 2.40 x 2.00 x 0.75 m
Weight 750 kg
Appearance and color Two-component epoxy paint for heavy-duty concrete. Choice of RAL colors. >>> With our experience of this type of painted concrete installation, this paint needs to be re-applied/renovated once a year due to the normal wear and tear caused by intensive use of a bench installed on the public domain.
Fixing to the ground: We have two types of fixing for the concrete bench, depending on the type of ground where it will be installed:
Option 1 For installation on ground that can be dug out, the bench is supplied self-stabilized, attached to a double T-shaped IPN that is embedded in the ground or a concrete slab poured after installation.
Option 2 For installation on a pre-existing concrete slab, the bench is supplied attached to a 15 mm-thick steel plate, which is screwed into the slab using M20 stainless steel sockets. In a conventional environment, the steel plate will be hot-dip galvanized. For a marine environment, the plate will be in 316L stainless steel.
This ultra-modern, functional sculpture seats four people. It is a variant of the original solid sculpture registered by Lehoux & Lopez in 1992.
Using large-scale3D waxprinting and molding, the final design forms a sparse yet organic metal mesh inspired by cellular biologyin the image of a bone lattice, light but very strong.
The inside of the mesh is empty. The number of facets can vary according to the size of the mesh. The resulting appearance can range from the highly realistic to the abstract.
Materials under consideration: Polished stainless steel or powder-coated steel
