Baleak Void

“We shape clay to make vases

But it’s the internal vacuum that determines their use,

A house is pierced by doors and windows

It’s the void that makes habitat possible,

Being gives possibilities

It’s through non-being that we use them.”

Lao-Tseu

The two identical front and rear silhouettes are joined by welded inner and and outer sidewalls, which are welded together to give the sculpture rigidity.

Recessed in the center, the remaining part measures approximately 20 to 30 cm wide for a sculpture approximately 400 cm high.

Inspired by the caudal fin of a humpback whale raised vertically to the surface of the oceans during an event called “breaching”, i.e. the moment when the whale propels itself entirely or partially out of the water.

Breaching” can have several meanings communication, territorial claims, pest elimination, hunting aid or observation of the surface.

Whales are majestic creatures that capture our imagination with their immense size and incredible acrobatic displays. This show is always impressive for observers.
